一、流口影山海关以东,史称关东,今称东北,包括辽宁、吉林、黑龙江三省。东北皮影始于何时,资料奇缺难以考证。确有文献可鉴的历史,为明万历年间,东北古城辽阳(另载沈阳)产生影卷,研制出羊皮影。翻书唱影随之风行,迅速传播关东大地。此距今有400余年历史。(详见后文《翻书影》)据辽宁各地皮影老艺人讲,在翻书唱影之前,当地已有流口影,称为老关东影。看来,东北皮影的历史,远不止400年。
