In the field of organic chemistry, several names can be given for the same compound. This situation, on the one hand, makes it possible for the mind to be clearly articulated and, where necessary, for the structural similarities to be easily displayed, with great convenience. But on the other hand, the proliferation of names of the same substance poses a serious obstacle to indexing. The difficulties were felt as early as 1892, when the 34 most qualified chemist in nine European countries held a meeting in Geneva to develop the Geneva nomenclature, hoping to use the first revision of the report Solve this difficulty.
