面接触钢丝绳是耐磨及耐疲劳性能都很高的一种钢丝绳。国际上出现这种产品已有三十多年的历史,湘潭钢铁厂从1972年试制成功并开始在矿井及林业主索道试用至今也已有十多年历史。从已获得的试用结果可以看出,面接触钢丝绳的使用寿命高于包括三角股钢丝绳在内的各种钢丝绳,并且可以在几乎所有用途上使用,制造工艺比较简单,现有捻股机只需略加改造即可用以生产这种钢丝绳。因此
