Miller, a U.S. financial economist and a former chairman of Harvard University, served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and president of the American Institute of Finance and Trade. He is currently a professor at the Graduate School of the University of Chicago. He has long been involved in financial issues research and won the 1990 Nobel Prize in economics for his corporate finance theory. In July 1996, Mr. Miller came to Guangzhou to attend the “Seminar on Financial and Enterprise Reform in Guangzhou” and was hired as adviser to the decision-making consultant group of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government.
