I. INTRODUCTION The rheology of soft rock is one of the important research topics of rock mechanics. It is of great significance to the rock mass stability of dam foundations, slopes, and underground caverns. Over the years, a great deal of rock rheology has been carried out. Research has aroused widespread interest. Because of the development of production, more projects will be built on soft rock in the future. For example, China’s Gezhou Dam project is built on soft rock. The so-called soft rock is referred to here in a broad sense. In addition to the rock with lower strength, it also includes weak interlayers, interbeds, and development due to faults, weathering invasion.
