To evaluate the visual characteristics of implanted bifocal IOLs and to explore the exact meaning of “bifocality” of IOLs, 52 cases of implanted 3M 815LE diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses (3MMIOL) were studied refractively. Case selection criteria for the surgical eye potential postoperative correction of visual acuity in 20/30 or more, with an average age of 65 ± 8 years. 20 cases of 20 eyes implanted conventional 3M single-focus intraocular lens as a control, mean age 69 ± 7 years.
