【Objective】 To investigate the levels of copper, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, lead and serum alkaline phosphatase (BALP) in children with idiopathic short stature (ISS) Impact. 【Methods】 The levels of total copper, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, lead and serum BALP in children with ISS and normal controls were measured and compared. 【Results】 The levels of blood lead and serum BALP in children with ISS were significantly higher than those in healthy children of the corresponding age group. The levels of serum calcium and serum zinc in children with ISS were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05 or <0.01). 【Conclusion】 Lead exposure has an adverse effect on the height of children and may be one of the factors that cause ISS in children. However, serum calcium and zinc deficiency also affect children’s height. In addition, BALP levels in ISS children may be used for their efficacy monitor.
