1941年春,沉疴在休的续范亭从晋西北抗日根据地来到延安治疗休养,从此开始了与毛泽东、朱德、林伯渠等老一代革命家的直接交往。这年初冬,续范亭参加陕甘宁边区第二届参议会期间,得与心仪已久的朱德深谈。总司令的辉煌业绩与他那淳厚质朴的气度融为一个有机的整体,这给历经宦海沉浮的续范亭留下了至深的印象。他以精炼的笔触,截取最富于典型意义的断面,给后人描绘出一幅朱总司令的肖像画:
In the spring of 1941, Shen Kui continued his direct foraging with the older generation of revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Lin Boqu from Sifan Ting, who was on holiday, to Yan’an for treatment and rest from the anti-Japanese base in northwestern Shanxi.
