The Russian writer Gogol, one day, invited a friend to a restaurant for dinner. A menu caught his interest and he took out a pen to read a notebook and copy the menu. The food was on the line and he was still burying it. The friend was not happy: “You invited me to dinner, or let me accompany you to copy the menu?” Then Gogol used this menu in a novel. Gogol said his notebook is a “marvellous book.” From this story, we realize that a large writer like Gogol, his creation is also built on the hard work of collecting materials. Qin Mu, a contemporary essayist in China, said: A writer should have three warehouses: one is a warehouse of direct materials, loaded with materials derived from life; the other is a warehouse of indirect materials, loaded with materials from books and materials; Another is the daily collection of people’s language warehouses.
