《乐府诗集·近代曲辞》中以宴饮游乐为主题的诗歌数量最多,其次是战争闺怨和送别主题。近代曲辞中收录的十一首王维诗歌与《乐府诗集·近代曲辞》的收录情况相吻合,可见王维的诗歌被选入乐并不是出于偶然或仅仅由于文学性,而是符合了乐工的选诗倾向。《乐府诗集》收录的王维诗歌在文字上与其他通行本有着显著的差别,其产生的原因除了配合曲调以外,更多的是为了突出歌辞的功能性。一种是为听者考虑,修改不易听懂的字词。一种是扩大曲辞的适用范围,如隐去诗歌中的宗教特色,或淡化诗歌中的特定地点、时间,以便在普遍的娱乐场合演唱。
The poems on banquets and amusement in “Yuefu Poems and Modern Songs” are the most, followed by the motto of “Boudoir of War” and the theme of “goodbye”.
