Since the outbreak of the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States, its influence has spread to the world financial system and has had a long-term negative impact on the world economy. Many experts and scholars have summarized many reasons for the crisis, such as the real estate bubble burst, the long-term low interest rate policy of the United States, the excessive innovation of the U.S. financial system and the lack of early warning of over-leverage. With the deepening of the follow-up research, theorists and practitioners gradually realized that the imperfect corporate governance and internal control flaws of Wall Street investment banks are the underlying causes of the crisis.
