枝江县是湖北省的主要产棉县。建国以来,棉田面积较为稳定,产量不断提高。常年种植26万亩左右,皮棉单产由1949年的25斤,上升到目前的200斤左右,增长七倍多。当前棉花生产的主攻方向,是如何提高棉花质量,而抓好红铃虫防治,则是增产保质的重要一环。
Zhijiang County is the major cotton producing county in Hubei Province. Since the founding of the People’s Republic, the area of cotton fields has been relatively stable with the output continuously increasing. Perennial planting of about 26 acres, lint yield from 25 pounds in 1949, up to the current 200 pounds, an increase of more than seven times.
