An engineer who graduated from the Canadian Institute of Engineering collapsed the bridge due to a design error. The hospital processed steel from this bridge into a “ring of disgrace,” and was distributed to students along with diplomas when students graduated. Intended to warn students to learn from this painful lesson forever. “Ring” worn on the hand, “shame” in mind, unforgettable. The practice of the Canadian Institute of Engineering, so future generations learn the lessons of our predecessors, is fantastic.
