这两种编码均属于游程长度受限 RLL(Run-Length-Limited)编码,以下简称游程受限编码。
1 Introduction Since the late 1960s and early 1970s, optical recording technology has been widely used in many optical storage products such as CDs, CD-ROMs, CD-Rs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. The 8-14 EFM modulation coding invented by Immink and Ogawa has been used as a recording code for CDs until now. About 15 years after the launch of the CD, the DVD started to enter the market. The DVD uses EFM + encoding, which has the same parameters as the EFM encoding but a higher (about 6% increase) code rate. Both of these codes are run-length-limited (RLL) codes, hereinafter referred to as run-length limited codes. Run-limit encoding is widely used on mass storage systems such as CDs, DATs and DVDs. Table 1 shows several common record (channel) codes and their applications in current consumer electronic products.
