The ancient women’s desire for viewing the drama and entertainment shows the same extreme obsession with men. Their graceful grace has repeatedly appeared in various types of theaters. However, due to the great power of feudal society’s ethical awareness, the enthusiasm of the female viewers made the feudal scholars and their doctors extremely fearful and subsequently forbade them from going to theaters for various reasons. It is clear that the taboos of female viewers have risen to a unique cultural phenomenon in ancient China. This article mainly probes into the essence of this phenomenon from the following three aspects: the reasons for forbidding, the content of taboo and the way of punishment.
