青花瓷器在元代最为经典,明清时蓬勃发展,以白地蓝花为主要特征。青花瓷器也是中国对海外影响最大的瓷器品种之一。据《瀛涯胜览》中“爪哇条”记载:“国人最喜中国青花瓷器。”而日本的小林太市郎更是在《罗可可的形成》一文中所说:“当时能提供这种充实的曲线之模范只有中国的工艺美术品。特别是柔软的瓷器的曲线……,这种罗可可啦线,它保存了中国瓷器的优雅端庄气派,蕴含着强大的生命力。”日本人进而称明代的青花瓷为“素肌玉骨”。从古至今,这种又名“釉下蓝”、“釉里青”和“白釉蓝花”的釉下彩瓷器,仿佛有种魔力令不分国籍的人为之痴迷。古老的艺术精粹与现代设计间之是否真的冲突?青花瓷器明净、素雅、与中国水墨画有异曲同工之妙,故旧时多为文人们赏玩、赞美和典藏,甚至有文人亲自参与创作,这也是使这原本简单的陈设品,变得饱含意境和魅力的原因之一。
