Hewlett-Packard added new graphics capabilities to its Kayak Windows NT workstation. The company uses a new graphics card developed by Evans & Sutherland Computer to enhance Kayak’s graphics subsystem capabilities. This E & S AccelGalaxy graphics card supports the OpenGL 3D graphics API, which increases graphics subsystem performance by up to 80%. The predecessor of this card, called AccelEclipse, originally used only for Kayak XW. The new AccelGalaxy graphics card will be used on all Kayak products, including: entry-level XA workstation with single Pentium II processor; entry-level XA workstation with dual Pentium II processors; and single or dual Pentium II or Xeon High-end processor XU workstation. Hewlett-Packard’s high-end XW series workstations will use the company’s own Visualize graphics card developed by Hewlett-Packard.
