中国迎来电信发展新时代年过50的人们也许还记得这样一句话:“楼上楼下,电灯电话”。这几乎是新中国一代人的梦想和渴求。70年代末,冥冥中醒来的中国人民打开国门,举目四望,严重的滞后使人心惊:经济滞后,科学滞后,教育滞后,技术滞后,电信事业更滞后……江河皆由源,一切从头干。差距,巨大的差距鞭策着中国人民发奋图强,也鞭策着120万邮电职工以惊人的毅力苦干,为中国经济大厦奠基石,为国民经济疏“瓶颈”。十几年过去了,辛勤的汗水,艰苦的劳动换来了丰硕的果实,惊人的发展速度。在现代经济领域中独占鳌头的电信事业突飞猛进,更为中国改革开放、经济起飞推波助澜。进入90年代,中国迎来了电信发展的新时代,1993年、1994年、1995年上半年,电信业务总量和业务收入增长速度均在50%以上,中国的电话网规模仅次于美、日列世界第三位,寻呼用户约1500万,成为世界第二大寻呼用户网络。“腰别 BP 机,手持大哥大,市话程控化,网络数字化”。邮电人自豪地说:“国际上已有的先进通信技术和通信手段。我国都已或即将采用,同发达国家相比,我们毫不逊色。”世人说:“中国电信事业发展一夜跨越若干年。”
