The distribution of T-lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of 146 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma was detected using monoclonal antibodies against T-cells. The activity of NKC and L-2 was also measured and analyzed in conjunction with the liver cancer stage of the Japanese Hepatic Cancer Research Society. There was no significant difference between the cirrhosis group and the normal group of CD3, but CD4, CD4/CD8 decreased significantly, and CD8 increased significantly. The changes of CD4, CD4/CD8, and CD8 were more obvious in the liver cancer group and were related to the staging of liver cancer. The activity of NKc and IL-2 in hepatocellular carcinoma was also significantly decreased, suggesting that the staging of liver cancer according to TNM not only reflects the development of the tumor, but also provides a reference for the clinical evaluation of the patient’s immune status.
