On June 5, 1980, the front page of “Gansu Daily” published an article entitled “High-school chicken-raising?” And reported on the females Gao Xuelan raising chicken at the Dongwan Brigade, Chenping Commune, Xili District, Lanzhou City. The newspaper heated controversy around the right of peasants to raise chickens.
