Malaysia, known as the “mini-Asia,” has a complex historical background in the formation of a multi-ethnic and multicultural society. Since the early 20th century, Chinese and Indians flooded into Malaya. By the time Malaya gained independence in 1957, the history of ethnic relations in the past half century was full of twists and turns from the opposition to integration. Malaysia’s eighth “national writer” honorary title winner Abdullah Hussein, with a novel “integration”, this fifty years of bitter and enjoyable. This long chapter also laid the author’s position in the literary world of Malay and became a brilliant accomplishment in his creative career.
