冼玉清(1895-1965)是近代岭南杰出的女学者、广东省文史研究馆副馆长,有“不栉进士”之称。陈垣(1880-1971)是中国“近百年来横绝一世”的“当世史学钜子”。与陈垣并称“史学二陈”的陈寅恪先生1933年12月阅岑仲勉文后致函陈垣称:“中国将来恐只有南学,江淮己无足言,更不论黄河流域矣。”①与陈寅恪相交甚厚而又深为推许的陈垣与冼玉清都可视为“南学”中的重要人物。
Xian Yuqing (1895-1965) is an outstanding female linguist in modern Lingnan, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of history and literature, a “non-stop jinshi,” said. Chen Yuan (1880-1971) was a “great master of world history” during his “over one hundred years” in China. Mr. Chen Yinque, who is also known as Chen Hsueh-chi and Chen Hsuan-chen, said in December 1933 he sent a letter to Chen Zhongming saying: “China will only learn to study in the South in the future, and the Jianghuai has no endorsement, let alone the Yellow River.” Chen Yuan Ke and Chen Yuk-ching, who are both very thick and deeply interdependent, can be regarded as important figures in “Southern Learning.”
