荫罩式彩色显象管工作时,因荫罩的拱形变形将引起退色效应,因为传统荫罩材料的主要成分是纯铁,其热膨胀系数较高。日本东芝公司的15英寸、21英寸FS型彩色显象管,它们的荫罩材料是铁镍合金,即所谓的殷钢,其热膨胀系数较低。这种殷钢荫罩彩色显象管,对于由荫罩拱形变形引起的退色效应具有很好的抑制作用,所以适合于数字传输方式用的显示器,譬如数字式电视机和多功能电视机。
