香港中文大学医学院在致癌基因研究方面获得突破,发现一种基因变异导致皮肤癌及脑癌两种常见的癌症。中大化学病理学系助理教授林青云医生与美国同行发现,一种基因变异会导致基底细胞瘤(一种常见皮肤癌)及髓母细胞瘤(一种常见儿童脑癌)。其研究的最重要发现,是从有关病例中鉴定出圆滑蛋白(SMOOTHENED)基因的一种活化突变,使圆滑蛋白基因变成肿瘤基因。其研究提供了治疗这些癌症的方法,圆滑蛋白是一种在激活时会引致癌症的基因,因此,使圆滑蛋白失去活性可达到控制此类癌症的目的。这种治疗方法还需继续研究,有
The Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Medicine has made breakthroughs in the study of oncogenes and discovered that a gene mutation causes two common cancers, skin cancer and brain cancer. Dr. Lin Qingyun, an assistant professor at the Department of Chemical Pathology at CUHK, and his colleagues in the United States have discovered that a genetic mutation can cause basal cell tumors (a common type of skin cancer) and medulloblastomas (a common type of childhood brain cancer). The most important finding of the study was the identification of an activating mutation in the SMOOTHENED gene from the relevant cases, which resulted in the gene transforming into a tumor gene. Its research provides a way to treat these cancers. Smoothie protein is a gene that causes cancer when activated. Therefore, inactivating rounding proteins can achieve the goal of controlling such cancers. This treatment method needs to continue to study.
