In “The Poetry of Mulan”, “The generals died in 100 battles, and the warriors returned for ten years” are familiar poems. However, if you ask: Does the generals die after 100 battles? To answer this question, you must understand the rhetoric of “intertextuality”. The words “General”, “strong”, “100 battles”, and “10 years” in the words “The generals died in 100 battles and the warriors have returned for 10 years” are bona fide, meaning that the generals and the warriors have experienced very much. Many large and small battles for a long time and some sacrifices have been made. The survivors have returned with a triumphant victory. The meanings of the sentences above and below correspond to each other and are complementary to each other. The connotations are very rich and the writing is extremely refined.
