At present, there is no direct evidence that the human stomach has a mechanism of sieving and decanting when excreting solid and liquid meals. The authors applied real-time ultrasound to observe the changes in the morphology of the stomach outlet and the movement of the stomach wall when the human stomach was drained of liquids and solids separately, to study the mechanism of gastric contents flow and emptying. Patients and Methods: Six healthy volunteers (male 4, female 2, aged 20-35, average 25 years old) were fasted for 8 hours before the test.
