“五百年名世;三不朽伟人。”这是硕儒刘耀东于1931年写给青田县南田(现属文成县)诚意伯庙的一副对联,对刘基予以高度评价。刘耀东,又名葆申,曾佑,字祝群,号疚庼居士,晚号启后亭长,青田县南田(现属文成县)人,系明诚意伯刘基第二十世孙,生于清光绪三年(1877)十月十九日,卒于1951年农历二月初八,终年七十五岁。自幼勤奋好学,七岁其父凤仪开始教授四书,十一岁读经史,十九岁举县庠生,不久进处州(今丽水)莲城书院,继而从学于瑞安经学大师孙诒让门下,
