和谐社会就是一个人们按照一定的法律和道德规则安定有序地生活,并且充满活力,富有积极性和创造性的社会。和谐社会不是一种社会形态,而是一种社会状态,就是各种矛盾和冲突处于协调的、有序的、均衡的状态中的社会,各种社会矛盾处于可控的范围内。和谐社会并不是非此即彼,此消彼长的对立状态,它的本质特征应当是“和而不同”、“和实生物”。社会主义和谐社会并不是一个没有矛盾和冲突的社会。
A harmonious society is a society in which people live in a stable and orderly manner in accordance with certain laws and ethics and are full of vitality, enthusiasm and creativity. A harmonious society is not a social form but a social condition, that is, a society in which all kinds of contradictions and conflicts are in a coordinated, orderly and balanced state and various social contradictions are within the controllable scope. A harmonious society is not a non-one or a two-state antagonism. Its essential characteristics should be “harmony but different” and “real life.” A socialist harmonious society is not a society without conflicts and conflicts.
