1997年,中国政府决定由国家投资,在北京天安门广场人民大会堂西侧一块预置了半个世纪的空地上,兴建国家大剧院。国内外建筑设计单位对国家大剧院的设计方案进行了积极竞标,到截止日,共收到国内设计方案24个,国外20个。经过一年多的评选,评委会通过两轮淘汰,剩下4个方案,其中1号方案为法国巴黎机场公司设计、清华大学配合的大卵壳方案。
In 1997, the Chinese government decided to invest in the state building of the National Grand Theatre on the open space on the west side of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. The architectural design units at home and abroad actively bid for the design of the National Grand Theater. By the deadline, 24 domestic design projects and 20 foreign ones were received. After more than one year of judging, the judging panel passed two rounds of elimination and the remaining four programs, including the No. 1 program designed by the Paris airport company in France and the egg shell scheme coordinated by Tsinghua University.
