In Catherine Ann Potter’s short story, “Granny Whitrose, Abandoned,” she created an image of an old grandmother who was abandoned by her fiance when she was young and married after being widowed and widowed. All along, this novel is seen as a pure tragedy, based on the title of “jilting”. This article aims to prove that Porter created such an image by analyzing the original, redefining and interpreting the word “jilting”, not just to show the tragic fate of a woman, but to show an independent and decisive Spirit, in order to awaken readers, especially women, through the hard work to discover the true meaning of life and create a better life.
