《宋史·岳飞传》载:岳飞家中从没有姬妾陪伴服侍他。吴玠素来很佩服岳飞,愿意跟他结交,想把一个经过修容打扮的美女送给他。岳飞拒绝接受,说:“皇帝每天还霄衣旰食,现在岂是我们当将军的享受安乐的时候?”吴玠对他更加敬重。岳飞年轻时很能喝酒,皇帝告诫他道“你将来到了河朔时,再放量饮酒吧!”于是他杜绝酒杯不再喝酒。皇帝又要给他修建房屋,岳飞辞谢说:“敌寇未灭,怎么能先造自己的安乐窝呢?”有人问他天下何时方能太平,岳飞说:“文臣不爱钱,武臣
