飞行在巴尔的摩—华盛顿国际机场附近空域的飞机,做梦也没有想到在数月内会被Lockheed Martin公司任务系统部设计并试验的系统所跟踪。令人惊奇的是这些飞机都装备有雷达告警或ESM接收机,却一点也没有觉察被跟踪过。 1998年10月在华盛顿AUSA展览会上,该公司首次展出了“寂静的哨兵”(Silent Sentry)系统。经过15年的研制,该系统从原理上说只能是半个雷达,重要的在于无源的另一半,仅有接收机和处理系统。与通常依靠雷达发射机发射高功率微波脉冲,再由接收机检测从飞机、直升机、无人机的机身或导弹弹体反射的回波……相比,所不同的是,“寂静的哨兵”分析和处理的是商业调频(FM)和电视广播信号,在世界上绝大多数人口密集地区,这类信号是大量存在的,变化不大的。
Planes flying in the airspace near Baltimore-Washington International Airport did not expect to be tracked by the system designed and piloted by Lockheed Martin’s Mission Systems within months. Surprisingly, these aircraft are equipped with radar warning or ESM receiver, but have not been aware of being tracked. At the AUSA show in Washington DC in October 1998, the company debuted the Silent Sentry system for the first time. After 15 years of development, the system in principle can only be half a radar, the important thing is that the other half of the passive, only the receiver and processing system. In contrast to the echoes that normally rely on radar transmitters to transmit high-power microwave pulses and then the receiver to detect reflections from airframes, helicopters, drone’s fuselage or missile projectiles ... the difference is that “Silent Sentinel ”Analyzed and processed are commercial FM and television broadcast signals, which are in large numbers and little changed in most of the world’s densely populated areas.
