Objective: To investigate the continuity of Mg2 + content in brain tissue after traumatic brain injury (TBI) and to explore its significance. Methods: 28 SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation control group (n = 4), injury group (n = 24). At 1, 4, 24, 48, 72 and 168 h after injury, the injured group was sacrificed. The contents of Mg2 + in brain tissue were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results: The content of Mg2 + (P <0.01) .Conclusion: (1) The contents of magnesium in brain tissue after TBI in rats were significantly lower than those before injury (P <0.01) The content can appear to reduce about 20h, to 2h after injury the most significant reduction, confirmed that Mg2 + plays an important role in early TBI secondary brain damage. (2) Mg2 + treatment after TBI “timing window” should be controlled within 24 hours, try to ultra-early application.
