In Japan, a total of 11 AIDS patients (six for gay men and five for hemophilia) have been confirmed by the AIDS Commission. Six people have now been killed. The Commission of Inquiry pointed out that blood preparations are a source of AIDS and that heat-treated preparations have been used in patients with hemophilia and therefore do not have to worry about the spread of the virus. However, about 5% of hemophiliacs have antibody positive rates of up to 30%, and they may spread to their spouses. The Ministry of Health and Welfare said that at present, the actual situation of male homosexuals is not yet known and the investigation commission has no special person in charge of the investigation. The quantity and distribution of such information are not clear.
