According to BHP Billiton’s announcement, the company produced 31.2 million tonnes of iron ore in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2009-2010 (the second quarter of 2010), an increase of 16% over the same period of previous year and basically the same as the first quarter of 2010. BHP Billiton’s 2009-2010 fiscal year iron ore production totaled 125 million t. BHP Billiton’s iron ore production not only showed year-on-year growth, the price also climbed to historic highs, but the company seems to be not too optimistic about the future operation.
