农二师二十九团场位于天山南麓,塔克拉玛干大沙漠东北边缘,距库尔勒市41公里,属霍拉天山支脉霍山和库鲁克南坡洪积——冲积扇地带,土壤以沙壤和轻壤土为主,由北向南土壤由粗变细,分布顺序为沙壤——轻壤——中壤——重壤。全团土地总面积2.25万公顷,耕地0.86万公顷,百分之九十是盐渍地。据资料记载:0—100厘米土层内含盐量为3—5％,8—27米土层内总盐量为1.47—1.46％,土壤含盐量相当严重,当地老百姓称这为吾瓦(维语),即兔子都不拉屎的地方。
