介绍一种基于ATM网络，用于VOD点播业务的机顶企网络接口单元的设计，对机项金的协议栈结构，TS流，IP的AAL5封装和NIU软硬件设计的考虑进行了讨论。通过对网络流量特性的分析，采用了对音视频传输流和交互控制信息流分别使用硬件和软件进行处理的方法，使速度和灵活性都得到了满足。
This paper introduces a design of the top-level network interface unit for VOD service based on ATM network. The hardware and software stack structure, TS stream, IP AAL5 package and NIU hardware and software design are discussed. Through the analysis of network traffic characteristics, using the method of processing audio and video transport stream and interactive control information flow separately by using hardware and software, the speed and flexibility are satisfied.
