Rodney Robert Porter died in a car accident on September 6, 1985. His death was a sad matter for the scientific community, and especially the immunology community. He is scheduled to retire on October 1, 1985 from Whitley, a professor of biochemistry at Oxford University. Nevertheless, he decided to continue his research work as Director of Biochemistry at the Medical Research Center (MRC). On October 8, 1917, Rodney Robert Porter was born in Newton (?) Lewailos, Lancashire. He studied at the Aston-McFarrul grammar school and Liverpool University
