2008年12月3日,圆明园管理处带着一份“圆明园数字互动体验中心”招商项目表,出现在2008年北京旅游产业项目推介会上。他们计划,在圆明园遗址绮春园内,修建一座大型体验中心,包括120度、360度环幕影院和4D动感影院,通过计算机虚拟现实技术,打造一个虚拟的圆明园,项目耗资1.29亿元。关于这个项目,有关专家表示:我们不能守着废墟过一辈子,适度的开发不仅可以让更多的人了解文物景区,唤起大家的保护意识,同时还可以帮文物景区筹措到资金,用于进一步保护。
