In order to explore the changes of urinary prostaglandins after renal transplantation and its clinical significance, we measured the changes of urinary prostaglandins in 34 patients with renal transplantation (11 with acute rejection) and 16 with uremia . The results showed that urinary 6-ketoPGF1α (6-ketoprostaglandin F1α) and TXB2 (thromboxane B2) were decreased after renal transplantation. Both of them returned to normal with renal function improvement. Acute rejection of urinary 6-ketoPGF1α decreased and TXB2 increased more significantly, especially TXB2 earlier than the creatinine increased significantly, and with the reduction of rejection control. The above results indicate that changes in urinary prostaglandins, especially TXB2, are good indicators for monitoring the early rejection of renal transplantation.
