Article 24 of the Soviet Library Law stipulates the tasks of “cultivating readers’ reading needs” and “attracting people of all walks of life to the library extensively”. To do this, librarians can only rely on their level of self-cultivation and are good at guiding them to continuously increase their reading interest. The research results on reading interest of mass readers as well as the analysis of their reading needs will effectively help librarians in practical work in this regard.
