在《野草在歌唱》这部小说中,莱辛不仅鞭挞了殖民主义和种族歧视对黑人的压迫,同时也展现了在这种环境下人的孤独与异化。种族矛盾冲突下隐藏的是人类生存的困境,玛丽与迪克的婚姻可以说是将玛丽推向孤独与异化的另一重要因素,两人婚姻中的矛盾在经营农场与对待黑人的态度上一次次被激化,在不和谐的婚姻生活中玛丽的心理发生了严重的畸变,由此孤独与异化的主题得以加深。
In the novel The Grass Is Singing, Lessing not only flouts the oppression of blacks by colonialism and racial discrimination but also shows the loneliness and alienation of human beings in this environment.
