获得性免疫缺陷综合症(爱滋病)已发展成本世纪影响人们健康最严重的问题之一。在1981年6月至1984年6月的37个月的时间内,美国乔治亚洲的亚特兰大疾病控制中心报道了5,000例爱滋病。自1984年8月至1985年4月这10个月中又报道5,000例。应当特别强调的是这种疾病的发病率在急剧增加。据估计,美国今后两年将出现4,0000名爱滋病新患者,按现在的死亡率计算,有四分之三的患者将在诊断后两年内死亡。
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) has developed into one of the most serious problems affecting people’s health in this century. During the 37-month period from June 1981 to June 1984, the Atlanta Centers for Disease Control in Georgia, USA, reported 5,000 AIDS cases. 5,000 cases were reported in the 10 months from August 1984 to April 1985. It should be emphasized that the incidence of this disease is rapidly increasing. It is estimated that there will be 4,0000 new AIDS patients in the United States over the next two years. According to the current mortality rate, three-quarters of all patients will die within two years after diagnosis.
