为迎合HDTV对数据量的要求,引发争相发展能替代DVD的新一代物理格式的热潮。这种倾向是向更高的光盘密度发展,而另一种策略是采用更先进的编/解码器(Codecs),不是一味地追求高容量。因为它不需要更新激光器和光盘生产技术,只需采用高性能的芯片,这种构思在逻缉上已被认为是合理的。
In order to cater to the demand of HDTV for data volume, it has caused the upsurge that competing to develop a new generation of physical format that can replace DVD. This tendency is toward higher disc densities, while another strategy is to adopt more advanced Codecs rather than blindly pursuing high capacity. Because it eliminates the need to update laser and disc production technologies, it is logical to argue that using only high-performance chips is logical.
