This article presents a newly developed GC detector for gas chromatography that selectively detects nitrogen or phosphide through electrically heated alkali-ceramic beads in an air-hydrogen environment. Collecting negative ions gives the ideal sample response and background signal, while collecting positive ions gives only low sample response and high background current. Detector sensitivity depends on the temperature of the surface of the pellet, and its selectivity depends on the hydrogen flow. The detector linear range of 10 to 5 (for nitrogen) and 10 to 4 (for phosphorus), the minimum detectable amount of 10 ~ (-13) g / s, and 5 × 10 ~ (-14) g of phosphorus /second. After 2,000 hours of pellets, the detection of nitrogen and phosphorus still has high sensitivity and high selectivity.
