INTRODUCTION The central and western United States is often referred to as the country’s “granary,” which is not only a huge grain-producing area but also a major commodity-producing area. This article will mainly discuss the importance and some principles of prevention and control of cereal and feed pests in central and western China. For customary reasons, the central and western United States Department of Agriculture’s northern centers and the Socio-Economic Statistics Collectives (ESCS) collect data for each of the following three states and the following three regions: (1) Corn Belts include Iowa, Missouri, , Indiana and Ohio; (2) the Great Lakes region includes Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota; and (3) the northern plains, including South, North Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas, are consistent. The Midwest of this article can be seen as the northern center.
