On December 19, 2011, according to the data released by the People’s Bank of China, the foreign exchange reserves in China decreased by RMB27.9bn in November from the previous month. This was the second consecutive month of a decrease in foreign exchange purchases following the decrease of RMB24.9bn in October. It is also the first time that foreign exchange reserves have declined continuously since 2000.
