新疆是我国最大的干旱荒漠地区,林木复盖率低。由于地域辽阔、气候类型复杂多变,给林业生产带来很大困难。要发展林业生产,必须建设林木良种基地,选用良种造林。为了提高林木良种基地建设质量,保证国家投资的经济效果。最近,中国林木种子公司与区林业厅签署了联合建设林木良种基地的合同,共同建设吉木萨尔县林木良种试验站,阿克苏地区实验林场,玛纳斯平原林场,察布查尔县平原林场四处林木良种基地。生产繁育杨树、榆树、核桃等新疆主要造林树种的良种及穗条,以加速良种进程。
