经1984年洛杉矶奥运会组织委员会建议,国际奥委会和国际田联去年12月于瑞士洛桑与会,讨论并初步同意在洛杉矶奥运会上新设两个伤残人的竞赛项目,即乘坐轮椅者女子800米和男子1.500米的比赛。洛杉矶奥运会组委会主席皮特·尤伯罗思说:“参加比赛的世界级水平的伤残运动员将向人们有力地表明体育运动和奥林匹克运动会广泛深入的普及程度。世界各国的伤残青年会亲眼目睹这些年轻的伤残者们令人惊异的运动成就,并把他们视为仿效的楷模。”
The 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games Organizing Committee suggested that the IOC and IAAF attend a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland in December last year to discuss and tentatively agree to the establishment of two new contests for disabled people at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, namely, taking a wheelchair for women 800 Rice and men’s 1.500 meters race. Pete Umbroth, chairman of the organizing committee of the Los Angeles Olympic Games, said: “World-class disabled athletes participating in the competition will demonstrate the popularity of sports and the Olympic Games extensively. Witness the amazing athletic accomplishments of these young disabled people and treat them as role models. ”
