茅盾是一位卓有成就的编辑家,他丰富的期刊编辑活动,是我国现代期刊发展史中极有价值的组成部分。1916年,20岁的茅盾进入商务印书馆工作,由于表现出色,不久即被指派助编商务社办《学生杂志》,从此开始了他辉煌的期刊编辑生涯。从1917年9月助编《学生杂志》起至1949年10月新中国成立,茅盾从事或参与了15种期刊的编辑活动,其中主编或编辑《小说月报》、《文学》、《呐喊》、《文阵》和《笔谈》茅盾是一位卓有成就的编辑家。编创结合是他编辑活动的最大特点。
